What does density rating mean for memory foam?

Weight densities of memory foam

Memory foam is a material that can be manufactured in varying qualities, often marked by its density. Density is a measure in weight for memory foam, usually ranging from 2lb to 5lb. A 2lb or lower density rating is considered low quality, and this will be the type of memory foam that is found in a main stream retail store like Walmart, Target or Bed, Bath and Beyond. However, to get the full benefits of memory foam, it's best to purchase 3lb or higher, with 5lb being a premium level. The best 5lb memory foam pillows, toppers and mattresses are made from Sensus memory foam.

I ahve found that some European foams are of a lower density and are of a better quality foam than those here in the US or elaswhere. The European foams are 3 - 4 lb but are equal to American 5 - 6 lb foams and do not have all of the chemical additives that go into the American 5 plus pound foams. Please provide information on this topic - European Visco Foams. My email is theshippingguru@aol.com. Thank you
